Dear Chester Educational Community,

The District received notification this morning that a staff member has tested positive with COVID-19. This staff member was last in the building on Wednesday. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the learning in this classroom, the entire group of students has been determined to be close contacts. Parents of these children have been notified of the possible exposure and
following protocol as prescribed by the CDC and NHDHHS they were asked to move their youngsters immediately into quarantine. We are most appreciative of their cooperation. An additional staff member has also been determined to be a close contact in this situation and she will also be quarantining for a ten-day period from her last exposure to the individual with the virus. NHDHHS updated guidelines for quarantining can be found here.

We received notification this afternoon that a Chester Academy student has tested positive with COVID-19. This student attends an in-person cohort of our Hybrid/Remote Model and rides the bus to and from school. Therefore, close contacts in the building as well as on the bus have been determined and notified. Based upon this possible exposure and following protocol as
prescribed by the CDC and NHDHHS parents were asked to move their youngsters immediately into quarantine. In addition, a staff member has also been placed in quarantine based upon close contact with this case.

As you know, staffing at Chester Academy has been an issue throughout the pandemic. Based upon the anticipated absence of staff members, the 8th grade in-person cohort will be working remotely tomorrow. We hope to have them back in the building on Wednesday. Parents of these students can expect to hear directly from the school with regard to this issue.

We look forward to quick recoveries for our student and staff member and hope that all the close contacts remain healthy. We remain optimistic that our layers of mitigation tactics are reducing the risk of COVID-19 transmission within the building. We encourage all those in our educational community to continue to be vigilant with regard to COVID mitigation strategies. Please continue to wear masks, keep 6 feet of physical distance when out and about, and practice good hand hygiene.

We will continue to monitor both of these situations moving forward. Should you have specific questions about the status of our school operations, or any specific concerns for your student, please do not hesitate to contact me or Principal Lacroix. We will continue to do our best to provide you with up to date information.

Sincerely,

Darrell J. Lockwood, Ed.D.
