Dear Parents & Guardians,

After multiple meetings and numerous hours of work, the School Reopening Committee presented its recommendations to the Chester School Board during last night's meeting. The committee used guidelines from the NH Division of Health and Human Services as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions to aid them in their work. Their recommendations included:
  • Inviting all grade 2 students into the building
  • Incorporating an A/B In Person Model
  • Removing the Hybrid Remote Model
  • Adding a Variable Learning Day to the Adapted In Person Model (this model is explained in our Reopening Plan)
  • Revising the Model Determination including a new Risk Assessment Rubric
  • Revising the timeline when transitioning between models (less constrictive)
The School Board approved all of the committee's recommendations with a start date of March 8 in the A/B In Person Model which is the week we return from our Remote Learning Week.

The Reopening Plan posted on our website will be updated with all of these changes. The new version will be posted after vacation.

At this time, we are asking all of our families to complete a survey no later than Tuesday, February 23. The survey link is included in an email to families. The survey explains the new A/B Model and asks parents/guardians to state whether or not they would like their child to attend school in person according to the model we are in or attend via telepresence. We are making the assumption that if families choose to have their child attend in person in the A/B Model that they also want their child to attend in person should we move to the Adapted in Person Model. We will be using the information from this survey to determine groups for the A/B In Person Model. Parents will be notified no later than March 4, of the group in which their child is placed. It is crucial that we receive this information from families as we will not be able to make changes once the groups are established. So, please share all pertinent information as you complete the survey.

Families will receive more detailed information about the new model and what this means for you and your child.
