Chester Junior Honor Society
Requirements for Selection
Ronald W. Lubatti, Advisor, NJHS

Selection for the Chester Junior Honor Society is based on a majority vote of the CJHS Faculty Council (the Advisor is a non-voting member of the Council and makes up the sixth member) after reviewing the following information about each applicant:

(1) a requirement of a minimum of a 90 percent average in each core subject during school year terms (1,2) of the 2019-2020 school year,

(2) the student's description of the leadership activities and memberships in various organizations/clubs,

(3) the student's essay on leadership, character, and citizenship, and

(4) faculty and administrative input regarding the student's attitude and behavior in school and leadership in the classroom. Only those students of the highest character are to be inducted into the Chester Junior Honor Society and are role models for the student body.

The Chester Junior Honor Society (CJHS) has been coordinating the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital MATHATHON for many years. St. Jude Math-A-Thon is an education-based fundraising program for grades K-8 that benefits some of the world's sickest children who look to St. Jude Children's Research Hosptial for hope (no family ever pays St. Jude for anything). The current fundraising event at Chester Academy goes from Mid-December to Mid-January.

To date, the CJHS has collected $31,300 for the Hospital.
