Remote Learning and Cancellation Days

Cancellation Days and Remote Learning

Chester Academy used all of the traditional Cancellation Days earlier in the 2019-2020 school year. However, due to COVID-19, we began Remote Learning on March 19th.

What is Remote Learning?

The NH Commissioner of Education, Frank Edelblut, defines Remote Learning as remote instruction with remote support. Remote Learning will never replace traditional school but instead is the vehicle in which lessons are shared with students. Remote Learning in Chester means everything from assigned paper and pencil tasks done outside of our school building to face-to-face virtual meetings/lessons with a teacher. Remote Learning at Chester Academy will include both of these things and everything in between.

How are teachers, students, and families staying connected?

Teachers are available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday to answer student questions. Most communication between teachers and students will happen via the students’ Google Classroom (grades K-8 only) and email. Families may contact teachers via their email or voicemail. Teachers are checking both regularly.

What is Google Classroom and how do students sign in?

Google Classroom is a virtual learning environment. Every student in grade K-8 has access to Google Classroom. To access their Google Classroom, students can follow the directions linked here. These directions are also available on our Parent/Student Resources page and in the Remote Learning Resources folder below. We have also created a Chester Academy specific training video which can be found here.

An instructional video for taking photos of assignments and adding them to Google Classroom can be found here.

I still have questions, whom do I contact?
